September 2017

Last week in Outdoor Club we had lots of fun with Ford and Etal classes exploring, observing, mapping and searching for evidence about which creatures might be living in our school field. Both classes did some really good work and had LOTS of lovely ideas and enthusiasm about how we could improve the habitats around our school. The children came up with the following ideas of projects they would love to work on over the term:

- building a bug hotel
- building owl & bat boxes & putting them up in our trees
- making a hedgehog box or leaving a pile of leaves/sticks
- making a beetle bucket for hibernating beetles
- making toad houses out of flower pots
- digging in a hibernaculum in the pond area

This week (29th September) we hope to make Mason Bee Houses out of tin cans & garden canes and much more. Watch this space ....................
