Christmas Play

9th December 2016

This year the Hipsburn Primary School Christmas performance was of the play 'Straw and Order'.

In this 'lawfully good' play the cows accuse the donkeys of inviting a whole host of people to the stable (although the donkeys deny all charges!). The animals are outraged about the arrival of several shepherds, some men who claim to be 'wise', a young couple and their noisy baby! However, when Judge Grumps leaves the courtroom and encounters bickering innkeepers, cool wise men and shepherds, some dancing sheep and stars and a spectacular angel choir, everything becomes clear. When everyone experiences the peace and love that this special baby has brought into the world, the judge's final verdict is to close the case and to celebrate instead.

Everyone worked very hard to learn the words to all of the songs, and the year 4 and 5 actors had the extra responsibility of learning a lot of lines! The children sounded fantastic and the audiences thoroughly enjoyed themselves over the three performances. Well done to everyone who took part!

The children in Ford class have written recounts of the Christmas Play. Click on the link to go to the Ford Class page http://281-northumberland.eschools.co.uk/website/autumn_2016/227995/
