Tag Rugby Festival

18th March 2016
A group of Year 3 and 4 pupils attended a Rugby Festival at Alnwick Rugby Club on Friday 18th March. We all had a fun time playing tag rugby with other local schools and scored lots of tries. Hipsburn even played in the final play-off. It was a great opportunity to use the skills that our rugby teacher, Bear has been teaching us, and to practise our sportsmanship.
Here are a couple of festival reports from two of our year 3 children:

'On Friday 18th March year 3 and 4 went to a tag rugby tournament. Bear, our rugby teacher, chose 20 people to take part in the contest. We went on a school bus and when we arrived it was quite cold. There were lots of other schools there too. When we started playing rugby we scored lots of tries. The tournament was lots of fun but Seahouses won. The important thing is that we took part. We felt like winners'

'At the tag rugby competition I had fantastic fun, there were lots of teams there. Alnwick had two teams, Seahouses had three teams, St Michael's had two teams, Hipsburn had two teams and Whittingham had two teams as well. It was very cold indeed with howling wind, thick cloud and rain showers. There were loads of tries scored, some teams were very good. It was great fun and tricky. Seahouses won but we all still had loads of fun and it's all about taking part and we all felt like winners'
