Autumn 2025

Children in Need
On Friday last week, the whole school got into the spirit of Children in Need.
It was lovely to see the children dressed up and sharingPudsey activities.  The theme was Take 25 and each class gave themselves a challenge in school, from laps around the playground to messages of kindness.
Some of our children challenged themselves outside of school and we had a variety of challenges that we shared in assembly on Friday afternoon.
The four children who had brought their challenges into school had their names placed in a draw to win a Pudsey Bear, which was kindly donated to school by Ralph Y6
The winner of the Bear was Erica from Etal class.
Well done to everyone who participated in our Children in Need day.

WOW! STEMfest is still not over.
One of the groups that took part in a construction challenge won this amazing pirate ship.
The group constructed a similar ship, at the festival, faster than any other group from any other school. Fantastic achievement.

Etal Beach Day - Friday 10th October
Well, another fantastic beach day for Etal, the weather was fantastic and we had a great time investigating and consolidating our knowledge of the industrial revolution in the Victorian era.
From creating rail and canal networks to using engineering and bridge building techniques to construct sturdy structures that could be used to carry new modes of transport, Etal had a very enjoyable day.  Many thanks again to our parent volunteers Mrs Dennis and Mrs Pryer for your valuable contribution to our day

STEMFest Tuesday 7th October
WOW! What an adventure Etal had yesterday at the STEMfest festival at the Vertu Motor Arena in Newcastle.
A train journey and lots of exciting things to investigate.  The children were able to gain hands-on experience in an array of different areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. They were introduced to a range of job opportunities that are available in all of these areas.  Fun while learning was evident in all aspects of this trip. The children were enthusiastic, asked lots of questions and collected lots of freebies (which went down very well) while they were there.  Many thanks to Claire Vass, Barbera Pryer and Jude Dennis for volunteering to accompany us on this adventure.
Your children behaved impeccably and we are very proud of them.
Here's to the next one.

Music Workshop - Alnwick Playhouse 19th September
On Friday Etal made a special visit to Alnwick Playhouse for a percussion concert and workshop.
It was hosted by Alnwick Music society to complement a concert that they had performed the previous evening.  The children had fun watching the instruments being played and one of the children was chosen to play one.
We had a wonderful time listening to the music and it was very informative.

Bikeability - w.b 8th Sept
Some of Etal class have been brushing up their cycling skills in Bikeability this week.  Chris and Felix from Outspoken Training have delivered an amazing set of sessions ensuring that the children taking part are able to ride their bikes on and off road with confidence. The children have learned a lot and are all aware of the aspects of riding their bike safely, the importance of keeping a bike in good condition and have a better knowledge of road signs and that they are there to make roads safer for everyone. The sessions have been fun, informative and great exercise too!
