Ford Class 2025-26

Summer beach day 19th June 2026

We had a lovely sunny day for our final beach day of this academic year. The morning was very hot, we climbed Bracken Hill and did very well to get to the top in the heat. Once up there, we noticed physical and human features and completed a field sketch. After that was the highlight of the day- rock pooling. The children found lots of hermit crabs and creatures whilst exploring the rockpools and then gently put them back. They made their findings in the sand and created other sea creatures in the sand. The afternoon was really quick, we created habitats in the sand and then visited the park. When thinking about habitats, all the children thought about our current geography topic and went straight to making rainforests! A super day, thank you Mrs Johnson for another lovely day

Beach Day - Friday 13th March
On Friday we had a really brilliant beach day, the change of dates was the right call and we had great weather unlike the original date set! On the way down we spotted changes of seasons, wildlife and plants along the way. In the morning, we worked in the forest creating key landmarks and showed them with our group. We then made animal habitats and presented those too. After lunch, we headed to the beach and took time in our groups making volcanoes. For science week, we experimented with bicarbonate soda and vinegar to make a reaction that looked like lava at the top of our volcano- we had so much fun doing this! Mrs Johnson then showed us the diet coke and mentos experiment and we watched that reaction too. We linked this to healthy eating and thought about the effects coke can have on our teeth. We ended the day with a play in the park.

Beach Day- Friday 28th November
Ford had a wonderful Friday on the beach! We were very lucky with the weather- missed the lunchtime rain and got back into school before the 3pm downpour! In the morning, we explored states of matter further and acted out the particles to help us warm up. Throughout the day, we thought about cities in geography. We created a world map in the sand with key landmarks and biomes. We also built our own city in the sand drawing upon features of cities we know and built our favorite landmarks in the sand. Thank you Mrs Johnson, we had a brilliant day!
