Dunstanburgh Beach School
The Pirates of Dunstanburgh Class had a brilliant beach day on Monday 15th July to celebrate the end of their topic. Boat building, making aquarium bottles, shark attack races, treasure hunting and face-painting in the sun on Alnmouth Beach made for the perfect day. Children shared their knowledge of famous pirates, navigation, types of ship, diseases and punishments followed by sea shanties and more games.
Thank you to everyone who came along to help. Great fun was had by all!
Year 3/ 4 Cricket Festival 8th July 2019
We all had a wonderful afternoon on Monday. We walked down to Alnmouth and Lesbury Cricket Club. 3 schools took part in the cricket tournament including Hipsburn, Longhoughton and St. Pauls School. Hipsburn Avocados came in a whopping 3rd place HOORAY! Kurt was brilliant at hitting the ball far, Andrew took lots of catches and the whole team showed passion, respect and self-belief. Everyone motivated each other showing great teamwork. We are all superstars!

School Games - Y4 Multiskills Festival 17.6.19
On Monday, some of year 4 took part in a multi skills festival at Willowburn Leisure Centre. The festival was a great opportunity to meet children from other schools as well as to practise our skills in team work and determination. Well done, year 4!
Dunstanburgh class have been thinking about the School Games Values and created some super posters. We will display their art work on our School Games Board in the hall.
Dunstanburgh Beach School
Fantastic fun was had as Dunstanburgh developed their identification skills rock-pooling on Alnmouth Beach on Friday 24th May. The children were also lucky enough to see Moorhen chicks, swallows, swifts, herons and a cormorant drying it's wings in the sun on the way to the beach. The children found everything from dog whelks to velvet swimmer crabs in the pools and worked well in teams to compete a challenging scavenger hunt and create beach art.
Artist in Residence
Dunstanburgh class spent Monday afternoon working with an artist to create a whole school collaborative art piece for the Alnmouth Arts Festival 2019. The children observed detail in found beach objects as well as using their imagination to create beach totems. The children also loved learning about Daniel the artist's work and how he uses found beach objects to create characters like Pobbin.
Congratulations to the following children in Dunstanburgh who have been chosen to have their poems published in a young writer's anthology: Penelope, Eve, Mia, Jacob, Ewan, Bella, Emilia and Adi. The children have also been awarded a special 'Talent for Writing' certificate for their original pieces of creative writing. Excellent work!
