Visit to the Theatre Royal
Yesterday, Etal Class enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Theatre Royal in Newcastle to see an adaptation of 'Holes' by Louis Sachar. The pupils (and staff!) thoroughly enjoyed the play, with one pupil saying "That was the best thing I've ever seen!" We were also thrilled with the pupils' impeccable behaviour, which was complimented on by one member of the public.

Class Assembly - 12th February
Well done, Etal Class for your fantastic class assembly on the Amazon rainforest. The parents, pupils, staff and governors thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sportshall Athletics - 6/2/20
Last Thursday, pupils from year 5 and 6 represented our school at an inter-school athletics tournament in Alnwick. The pupils had to compete in a range of track and field events, including relay races, obstacle races, triple jump, javelin, speed bounce and many more. Our team performed brilliantly, with the girls' team placing first and the boys' team coming second. Overall, we came second out of five schools and we are so proud of this achievement! Well done, Year 5 and 6.

Visit from a Radiographer
On Wednesday, Etal class were visited by radiographer, Ruth Mather. Ruth gave us a fascinating talk and we learned about so much, including: the development of our bones from infancy to old age; different types of joints and how our skeleton moves; the effect that exercise, diet and lifestyle can have on our bones and also about the role of a radiographer and how we might pursue a similar career ourselves. We also enjoyed meeting Fred the skeleton and looking at some real human bones up close! Thank you so much for coming to speak to us, Ruth.

Story Writing Competition
During the Christmas holiday, Etal Castle Class were busy writing stories for a story writing competition. The rules were that their story must be between 300 and 500 words and that it must be titled 'When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney'. The pupils wrote some fantastic stories that were full of imagination and fun.

A special congratulations goes to Bella I, who wrote the winning entry. Have a read of her brilliant story below.
