Arts and Crafts

We have been extremely busy this week in Lindisfarne class working with visitors to our school.

On Tuesday we were very lucky to work with Alnwick Gardens on a lantern workshop, to create our own lanterns, in preparation for the Alnwick Gardens Lantern Parade

On Thursday a group of ladies from Bailiffgate Museum came to teach us the art of proggy matting. We learnt many new skills and really enjoyed working with our visitors.

Storytime
This half term we will continue reading 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl as our class novel in story time. The children have enjoyed listening to the story so far and have loved finding out about Mr Fox and his family. You might have other Roald Dahl books at home that you might wish to read and share with your child at home. At school we have a good selection of Roald Dahl books in our library if children would like to borrow one.

This half term in Lindisfarne we will be introducing VIB which stands for 'Very Important Book'. Each week a child will be chosen to bring in and share their favourite book or poem. This could be a story that has been read to them or a book they have read themselves.

Topic news
In our animal topic this half term we have been learning about animal migration and we have looked at the migration of swallows to Africa. Here are a few examples our artwork showing 'A swallows journey'.

The Tin Forest
In our animal topic we have been thinking about animal habitats in science. We read the story 'The Tin Forest' by Helen Ward. We created our own collage forests like the old man in the story.

'There once was a forest near nowhere and close to forgotten, that was filled with all the things that everyone wanted.'

Beach School
We had a great beach day observing wildlife and birds. We found out about migrating birds & animals. We also became fossil hunters! We found about rocks and how to look for fossils so we could be like the famous fossil hunter Mary Anning.
