Etal Class 2022-2023

Etal beach day 19.5.23

Year 6 were very lucky to have a glorious, sunny day for our 'Dream to change the world' themed  beach day. Taking inspiration from our whole-school project learning about the pioneering John La Rose, our day was focused around diversity. In the morning, we took a long walk towards Foxton and enjoyed a quiet moment- with beautiful views- to journal and then considered places that are special to us and built sand sculptures to represent these. After group discussions, everyone came up with ideas about how- as a class- we could make positive changes to our local area. In the afternoon,  we wrote poems and then worked in groups to perform dramas about the change we want to see in the world.

Beach day 10.2.23

Taking a new route to the beach, Etal Castle class explored the habitats of living things along the River Aln as we made our way towards the beach, taking in the spectacular views as we walked! Once at the beach, we talked about the different classifications of living things (including microorganisms that we wouldn't be able to see) that we would find in a rock-pool habitat before conducting our own investigation to test our theories!
In the afternoon, there were some excellent dramas inspired by our class book 'Letters from the lighthouse' linking to our World War 2 history topic.
